Ultrasound Guided Injection - Ascent Medical Consultants
Ultrasound-guided injection

Dr. Shoemaker and Dr. Anderson-Oeser have advanced training and many years of experience in the performance of injections for diagnosis and treatment of spine and other orthopedic conditions. Often referred to as “interventional pain management” these procedures include spine injections for neck and back pain such as epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency neurotomy/rhizotomy, sacroiliac joint injections etc. These procedures are performed at an ambulatory surgical center under sterile conditions using fluoroscopy (a form of low dose x-ray) to guide and precisely confirm accurate placement of medicine.

Our providers employ judicious use of injections. Quality care starts with obtaining a detailed history and physical exam as well as review of imaging to obtain an accurate diagnosis. This will occur during your consultation, at the end of which Dr. Shoemaker or Dr. Andeson-Oeser will discuss the spectrum of options with may include injections. Great care is taken to minimize any procedures that are not likely to be helpful.

Injections are often utilized to treat a variety of orthopedic and sports medicine conditions as well.  These injections are typically performed under ultrasound guidance. This includes injections for rotator cuff tear/tendonitis, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, hamstring tear/tendonitis, hip bursitis/tendonitis and many others. Injections are also used to treat arthritis of any joint.
